Sarah Melvin awarded Steel Memorial Bowl

The CA has awarded the Steel Bowl to Sarah Melvin as the most improved lady player in the CA for 2017. This comes as Sarah has reduced her handicap to scratch and has taken part in several invitations events. Many congratulations from all the club members, Sarah! I wonder what next year will bring?

Final League Match

Bristol ran out winners by 4-1 in the Advanced League to finish undefeated champions for the season. Dyffryn's win was from Sarah Melvin who defeated her lower handicap opponent. A well deserved scalp for her.

Wales GC Team

The Welsh GC team travel to Ireland this weekend - Ryanair permitting for some! - to play in the inaugural GC Home Internationals. Dyffryn Member Sarah Melvin takes part in the team. Our good wishes go to her and to the rest of the team. Jay Dyer is, I believe, attending in a refereeing capacity. Red and Yellow cards at the ready?

Finals Weekend

This weekend sees the playing of the club competition finals. Kevin has sent an email to all members outlining the combinations of games that are being played and when. (It took Kevin and I about 20 minutes figuring it out after our game yesterday!) Some combatants are still awaiting to play the semi finals of their competitions. A combination of wet weather and circumstances have delayed some for a while. All will be well by this Friday evening, when all blocks and ladder games close, too.

All England National Final

This weekend sees the National Final of the All England taking place. As runner up of the Area finals, Adrian Trickey qualified. I am hopeful that he manages to take part as his wife Diana has broken her ankle recently. Our best wishes go to her. I hope that she doesn't think this will stop her selection for Intermediate teams in the future!
